The club has several very active Junior development programs with complete instructionsfor all juniors from 12-18 years of age (discuss with coach if younger).Juniors can train and become competitive in archery, trap, smallbore rifle and pistol, as well as air rifle and air pistol. Several WSA juniors have received invitations to and participated in the Junior Nationals at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. It's not uncommon for themto bring back one or more medals from these matches. During the summer, the National Championships are held at Camp Perry, Ohio. WSA juniors usually form the heart of one of the medal-winning teams there each year. For the past 5 years, we've received high junior team awards, frequently beating adult teams and have broken or set approximately 50 Junior National Team and Junior Individual Pistol records in the past 10 years.
The coaches are NFAA, NRA and Mass. certified as instructors. Our coaches have won the prestigious NRAPresident's Award as junior rifle and pistol instructors and coaches.
WSA is committed to training young people in the safe and proper handling of firearms. We currently have firearms training programs specifically designed for the junior shooter in trap, pistol and rifle. These programs are delivered by NRA certified instructors and are a requirement for participation in our junior teams. The schedule for our Basic Courses is maintained on our Juniors BulletinBoard.
